Nikah (Marriage)

 
 

Thank you for your interest in marriage through our masjid, and congratulations! Below are Clifton Mosque’s requirements…

  • Step 1 - Schedule a Let's Get Married: Premarital Counseling

  • Step 2 - After your premarital counseling is complete, you must obtain an Ohio state marriage license.

  • Step 3 - Schedule an Islamic Marriage Ceremony: Nikah (you will need to bring with you at least 2 male witnesses to the ceremony). 

  • Step 4 - Email the Ohio state marriage license and inform us of what the mahr/dowry is. The timing of the mahr/dowry. Is the mahr/dowry given in advance, meaning it will be presented to the bride on the day of the wedding (nikah) or before the wedding? Alternatively, will it be delayed, meaning it will be given sometime after the wedding? Send information to admin@cliftonmosque.org (we need this as soon as possible; at least a week before the day of the nikah)

  • Step 5 - Tell everyone the good news!

***Note: If you already have an Ohio state marriage license, you can skip to step 3. Unfortunately, we do not currently offer any in-home services. We conduct religious marriages at the masjid or by Zoom. Cost and scheduling options are included here.
